About Mesquite, TX
Mesquite, TX is a suburb east of Dallas. The city is the “rodeo capital” of TX. In the 20th century, Mesquite was a farming community and grew cotton, hay, corn, and sugar. After WWII the city became more suburban as the population grew. Mesquite is historically known for their Big Town Mall, the first air-conditioned shopping mall in the US. The nonprofit organization Historic Mesquite Inc. aims to preserve historic structures in the city.
The city has convenient highway access to Dallas and east Texas and hosts an arts center, golf club, parks, and libraries.
